Top Ten Quotes I Loved From The Books I’ve Read In The Past Year
Sweet Temptation by Wendy Higgins
“It would decidedly not be okay to touch the bum.”
There are some AWESOME quotes from this book. I almost picked one of the really steamy ones, but I ended up picking this humorous one.
The Young Elites by Marie Lu
“Enzo inherited a throne. Giulietta relied on her royal blood. Queen Maeve rules Beldain because she was born to it.
But true rulers are not born. We are made.”
I love this thought process from Adelina. It brings home her descent into madness.
Nameless by Jennifer Jenkins
“She was unearthly and dangerous. She made him lose touch with all rational thinking. She was both wonderful and terrible in one delicate package. More intimidating than any man could ever be on a battlefield.”
Awwwww…I love Gryphon’s soft center. I can’t wait to read more about this lovely couple.
Empower by Jessica Shirvington.
“And as soon as he was gone, I saw beyond, to where Lincoln stood, exactly where I’d seen him last, when I’d begged him to trust me.
And my heart shuttered to life.
Because he had.”
The love story between Violet and Lincoln is one of my all time favorite love stories. In fact, this series is one of my all time favorite series. Sadly, this year the last book was published! Which means every top ten list will probably not feature this series (It’d hardly be fair to keep comparing everything else to it.
Season of Fire by Lisa T. Bergren
“I had to let you go,” I said solemnly, “But I never want to again.”
I love multiple POV stories, especially when they have a male POV. This is from Ronan’s POV (He’s one of my favorite HBWS –Hot Boys With Swords.)
Ruthless by Carolyn Lee Adams
“”I love you, Ruth. You know that. Because I love you, I’m going to tell you the truth. And you’re going to listen.”
I do. I listen with everything I have.”
Tenderheartedness from a character who is only subtly woven into the story.
Trouble is a Frined of Mine by Stephanie Tromly
“”We haven’t been introduced. I’m Digby. You must be Dick.”
Dad ignores Digby’s proffered hand. “Mr. WEbster. Only my friends call me Dick.”
“Well, with friends like that, amiright?””
LOL! This book is a gold mine of quotes, but this is one of my favorite jokes Digby says.
All Fall Down by Ally Carter
“Grace, are you ok?” Alexei says, and I curse him. I hate him for disappearing during the ball and now for showing up here –When I’m crying and broken and low.
I can’t let him see me like this.
He’ll tell Ms. Chancellor or my grandfather. Or, worse, he’ll tell jamie. And then it will start again. It will be just like After.
With the pills and the shrinks and the looks.”
This is from one of my favorite scenes. I’ve struggled with panic attacks and anxiety. The way Ally portrays it is extremely accurate, from the actual physical reaction, to the emotions you feel afterwards. It was so broken and honest.
Lock & Mori by Heather Petty
“And I…Mori, I-I cannot give you up. Not now. And I cannot even be sorry about it.”
One of my new all time favorite books. I loved it to death, but my favorite sentence is literally the last sentence in the book. I can’t share it because I’d ruin the impact it has when you read it for the first time.
A Madness So Discreet by Mindy McGinnis
“Sometimes the loveliest of places harbor the worst monsters.”
There was actually a different quote I was looking for, but I spent a couple hours trying to find it, and I couldn’t find it. But this quote is really great too. I love quotes like these.
