Oookayyy, so this novel turned me into a cheeseball. It was cute, it was fluffy.. And for that reason, I’m giving it four stars.
It was emotionally strong as well, which was somewhat unexpected. Which brought it up to 4.5 stars. Yes, it does kind of read like a One Direction fan fiction… I’ve never read OD FF, but have read FF for plenty of other fandoms and I imagine they are somewhat comparative.
You’ve got really good fanfiction and realllly bad fanfiction. This would fall into the really good category. The only reason it’s not five stars is just for the tiny bit of plot weakness.
That tiny bit of plot weakness lies in Stella’s job. An almost totally random girl getting chosen to photograph a boyband’s day to day activities? Not likely.
But Also, I’m one to talk. Pot calling the kettle black. XD At 15 years old, I was randomly plucked up by NYT best selling author to do social media stuff….sooo…. That was beyond highly unlikely. So… I think I’ll just shut up about that.
I loved Stella’s emotional/internal conflicts. Especially towards the end. It takes a lot for me to connect to a character emotionally, and I connected with Stella.
I also connected with her sister, as I was sick a lot as a child. Not with cancer, but I definitely still empathized with her feelings.
So for those who don’t mind the One Direction-ness of it, I would highly recommend it. It was overall just a fluffy, feel good novel. Indications are that this is probably going to be a series, so I’ll eagerly be awaiting the next story.
